The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce’s Workforce Development Alliance has been made aware of two workforce programs.
Career Exploration – first/ second week of June
Businesses are needed to host a small group of teens for about an hour. San Gabriel Springs is a non-profit based in Georgetown focusing on helping teens and young adults from difficult environments find and sustain independence. They host a two-week camp at Getsemani in Georgetown and one of their core areas is Career Exploration. As a part of this program, they take a handful of teenagers out to local businesses/organizations to allow them to see different careers and employment options for themselves. It’s not a job placement program, just exploration so there is no further commitment after the visit.

Summer Earn & Learn Program (SEAL Program) – June 17 – Aug. 10th
This program includes a grant for students with disabilities to work at local businesses so the students can gain workplace readiness training, work experience, and transferable skill learning opportunities through a summer workplace experience. Students selected to participate will work a maximum of 20 hours a week for a total of 5 weeks. The program is organized by Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area.
